It’s the end of the financial year. Phew. Public and private sector employees alike have all been very busy rushing to get everything done. There will, at least for some of you, be a brief sense of a slowed pace for July. And then the rush will begin again. Before you dive in, here are some of the things you may have missed in the last 12 months…

Family

Spending time with your partner instead of sitting next to each other looking at your smartphones.

Travelling interstate or overseas to visit siblings you haven’t seen for a few years.

Finishing work early so you can go and watch kids’ sports one afternoon.

Friends

Ditching the standard Christmas letter and instead picking up the phone for an hour long chat with school friends who you’ve known, but not seen, for decades.

Driving several hours to spend time with friends who used to be part of your daily lives.

Inviting your new neighbours round so you can get to know each other better.

Seeing your colleagues, clients and suppliers as new friends, not just people you work with.

Yourself

Getting enough sleep.

Finding the balance of diet and exercise that you love.

Spending time alone with your thoughts and feelings to better understand how your mind works.

Being fully present in the moment today, not replaying yesterday or stressing about tomorrow.

Before you rush headlong into the new financial year, take a few minutes to think about what you might not want to miss in the next 12 months…

What do you think?
