Course Overview
The Diploma of Project Management is designed to provide best practice project management skills and knowledge to practicing project managers. Project managers must have sound theoretical knowledge and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate the work of a team.
The course provides participants with the sound theoretical and practical knowledge of project management principles and processes and the application of tools, techniques and methods crucial to a successful project. Participants will gain a sound understanding of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) that underpins AS ISO 10006:2004, and a basic introduction to PRrojects IN a Controlled Environment (PRINCE2™).
The workshop fulfils the requirements for BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management (AQF Level 5).
This course will also position you (no further formal training will be required) to gain certification by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) as a Registered Project Manager (RPM) and provide you with the foundation knowledge to sit for the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification. Tanner James offers support services to help you prepare for these qualifications.
This course is offered publicly or can be delivered in-house within your organisation, with flexible timetables that can be varied to suit your availability. It is focused on pragmatic application within the workplace and is run by appropriately qualified project management professionals, who continue to build on their experiences as Tanner James consultants.

You will be involved in discussions and exercises throughout the course that will allow you to consider application within your work environment. Case studies will provide an opportunity to apply the practical guidance and theory to an actual project.
Assessment
Following formal training, your trainer will help you via email or phone (as available) to prepare to demonstrate your competency based on your workplace experience. When your assessment kit is completed, your trainer will host an assessment interview to review your evidence and discuss the application of project management within your workplace. Assessment is designed to be completed within three months of workshop completion.
All participants will receive a Statement of Attendance for the workshop. Successful assessment will result in award of the Diploma of Project Management. Partial assessment may result in issuance of Statements of Attainment for those units successfully completed.
Course Prerequisites
Participants should be practicing project managers proficient in written and spoken English who have access to workplace project documentation.

This Diploma has been developed for practitioners in project management who are learning the profession, or for those who wish to improve both their knowledge and skills. This course is also recommended for those expecting to move into positions as project managers.
